Madekwe was born into a mixed ethnic family. She's English as well as her father was Nigerian. She was raised on a council estate in the south of London. Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama The Beautiful Life. The two-episode series aired for just 2 weeks at The CW and then it was cancelled. Ashley Davenport, a character in ABC's Revenge drama, was chosen as Ashley Davenport. Madekwe was a regular on the drama series on ABC Revenge in two episodes. The show was announced in May 2013 that she would quit the show after completing one guest appearance on the first episode of season three.
