Madekwe was born into a mixed ethnic family. She's English as well as her father was Nigerian. She was raised on a council estate in the south of London. In the ages of 14, she attended The Brit School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While attending the school, she appeared in numerous stage productions, such as the King Henry V as Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.

She was also in Little Sweet Thing, by Roy Williams, and Flight Path, directed by David Watson.
Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama The Beautiful Life. The two-episode series aired for just 2 weeks at The CW and then it was cancelled. Ashley Davenport, a character in ABC's Revenge drama, was chosen as Ashley Davenport. Madekwe was a regular on the drama series on ABC Revenge in two episodes. The show was announced in May 2013 that she would quit the show after completing one guest appearance on the first episode of season three. She was Tituba on the television series Salem between 2014 and. In June 2012, she was married to her long-time love actor Iddo Goldberg. They've worked together on Secret Diary of a Call Girl as well as he had a role alongside her in the television series Salem.
Ashley Leggat, a twice Gemini nominated actress is a member of a big family from Hamilton, Ontario. She joined her parents, Roy and Patty and four older brothers -Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's family, which is all athletes, play baseball during the summer and played hockey in the winter months. Ashley couldn't walk, however she was able to dance. This led to the fact that when she turned 2 when she was two, she began to learn about Baby Ballet. Ashley was hooked on dance from that moment. Ashley took home the best soloist honor at each major dance contest, which included International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more, just to mention a few.
